There were some dresses on the red carpet at the Emmys that made anxious, and not in a good way...like Heidi Klum, Emmy Rossum, or Sofia Vergara's.

At any award show, there’s always a crop of gowns that make you go, “Huh.” Not “huh,” in a bad or good way, just feeling slightly baffled. You want to like the gown, but somehow you can’t commit. At the Emmys last night, there were incredible fashion hallaloo moments, and some that made you cringe.

You can’t fault Issa Ray’s beaming gorgeous smile, Emmy Rossum’s posture, or the wowness of Tina Fey. Yet, their outfits and others, in your mind, if you tweaked them, they would look better.
Let’s look at the list.
Ellie Kemper
Who doesn’t love the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! Ellie looks great in navy. Just wish they made the dress shorter; the half sheer looks dopey.
Nina Kiri
There’s something about The Heretics star’s dress that isn’t right. I really wanna like it, but something says step away. Someone pass me a pair of scissors.
Issa Ray
Love her infectious smile. Love the color of Issa Ray’s dress. HATE the sleeves. Want to grab a seam ripper and take them off.
Cara Buono
The Stranger Things actress’s gown by Christina Ottavino fits well. Her jewelry by Irene Lummetz works with the dress. It’s the style of the gown that throws me; screams “beauty pageant contestant” not red carpet.

Sofia Vergara
Sofia Vergara looks perfectly gorgeous in this dress, right? Right. So why is she on this list? BECAUSE SHE WEARS THE SAME TYPE OF GOWN AT EVERY AWARDS SHOW. GRRR. Boring. Much.
Emmy Rossum
Fab Zac Posen dress, lovee the Louboutins and fab Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. My issue is that Emmy looks like a mannequin.
Tina Fey
Any time Tina Fey’s on the red carpet, it’s a win for me. This tee shirt dress gown is just flat. Fey needs to wear something that matches her scintillating personality.
Samira Wiley
Samira Wiley can make you weep and make you laugh; sometimes at the same time. Wiley’s a great actress. The dress…not so much. Don’t wear something that looks “okay,” wear something that looks mind-bending beautiful
Love the color, love the accessories, love the hair (here's how to do it at home). I don't love the bodice; have the urge to tailor it; the plunging neckline is fine, the fabric isn't laying properly and it's making me nuts.
Is there a gown or three that you'd do over?
