Actress Nicky Candice Ferguson rescued Marley from a busy street in Los Angeles. He needs medical help and a forever home.
-PJ Gach
Nicky Candice Ferguson was driving down a busy Los Angeles Street, when she spotted a small dog wandering in traffic. Ferguson, who recently lost her Labrador, Candice after 12 years together, pulled over to the side of the road in shock. Turning the car off, Ferguson leapt into traffic with one thought on her mind; rescue that dog.
The terrier, whose matted hair hid his face and his shape, snapped at Ferguson a few times. Weak and tired, he could barely keep struggling against her. Once she got the dog into the car, she poured food and water from her prep bag into a bowl for the dog to eat. He attempted to devour it all.
Ferguson was determined that this dog she scooped up from a busy street would live and thrive. She brought him home with the idea of taking him to a groomer and getting him to look healthier. Turned out groomers wouldn't take him without a vet's certificate that he had his shots. So, she decided to bathe him herself, then take him to the vet's. As she was cleaning him, she found that the dog had over 100 ticks attacking his body. Finally clean after 6 hours of de-ticking him, Ferguson took the poor dog to the vet.
I'm pasting the rest of the story from the GoFundme page.
"I bathed and trimmed him and took him to the vet the same day. He seems to have some issues going on with his back legs, we don't know what without further xrays. Also his teeth are in poor condition and he cannot eat hard kibble or treats so I've only been feeding him softer foods. He has a skin infection and on meds for that and pain killers for the legs as well. He's a terrier about 8-10 years old , 11 and half pounds and a very chill and mellow soul.
Unfortunately I can't keep him. Having lost my own dog, a sweet Golden Retriever of 12 years, just 9 weeks ago, I'm just not ready to take on the emotional and financial responsibility. But I am happy to love and foster him, while I try to find him a good home. I have also spent hours online searching through hundreds of photos to see if he belongs to anyone. He isn't chipped or neutered, but he is a very sweet dog with an easy temperament. Great with other animals too and is housebroken.
My goal is to raise enough to get him xrays, bloodwork and dental work, so it will be easier to find him a home. It will be more difficult to get him adopted if he has isssues. I'm praying as well that once tests are done, it won't reveal any further medical issues.
I have invested quite a bit from my own pocket but am not really in a financial position to do more. Whatever you can donate is helpful, and truly no amount is too small.
Your love and kindness is greatly appreciated."
Every day that Ferguson is with the dog, now named Marley is a better one for him. He is social and loving. He now sleeps through the night. He understands commands. However, he is in dire need of medical help and a forever home. Can you help him? If so, visit the GoFundme page.
