Fashion mags and celeb watchers have been keeping an eye on Meghan Markle for years. In 2016, she was one of the most Googled actress of the year. There’s been everything from dissecting her style, to getting the Suits’ stars outfits for less. Now, as the fiancée of the most handsomest ginger in the world, (Okay, Prince Harry is hawt-ginger, or no), what she wears can cause the “Meghan Effect.” Designers and brands that she wears may crash from too many people logging on and trying to purchase what Meghan Markle is wearing at the time. Canadian clothing company Line And Label had that happen to them the first time Meghan wore their white coat. The second time she wore it, at her first public appearance as the next Mrs. Windsor.
The “Meghan Effect” is just like the “Kate Effect,” and the “Pippa Effect.” If any of the three wear something, fans leap on the brand or designer's website, then it crashes in seconds! Becoming part of the Windsor’s can do wonderful and terrible things to designers and their websites.
Markle’s style is like Kate Middleton’s. You could say that Markle’s style is the US version of Middleton’s. Markle, like Middleton makes wearing jeans and boots look elegant, not slouchy. Like Middleton, Markle favors lean tailored clothing that leans towards clean lines and sleek styling; she wears traditional British brands like Hunter and Barbour. While she’s a fan of UK brands, in an interview in Glamour, she revealed her style rule, “I also love that French way of styling, where if your outfit is pulled together, then something’s got to be disheveled – your hair, your make-up.”
Here are three winter Meghan Markle outfits that you could wear all season long.
Markle is wearing a Soia & Kyo Saundra-C mid-length classic down coat, $650, Soia & C on set in Toronto on November 14th. On her feet were Kamik boots; both areperfect for freezing cold temps that TO is known for.
Up next, the cutest engaged couple on the planet talk about how Prince Harry asked the big question, were they set up, and of course more Meghan Markle winter outfits.
They are just too cute. Really. This interview was held after the live engagement appearance by Prince Harry and Meghan. That green dress she's wearing, it was under the white coat.
Awww! Look at them!
The Line and Label coat Meghan’s wearing in this photo has been sold out. A very cool cousin would be the BB Dakota Isaac coat in Oyster, $160, Shop Bop. What was she wearing under her white coat? A dark green sleeveless dress from Italian label P.A.R.O.S.H. That’s, yes, you guessed it, sold out. The long sleeve version at $616 is still available. A budget-friendly version of the sleeveless dress is the Certified Stunner dress, $89, at Modcloth.
A few days before the big announcement, Meghan was spotted shopping in London.
She wore a Smythe hand knit ruffle sweater, $450, (sold out, sorry), Mother Denim Runway black jeans, $137.20, Line Franklin leather jacket, $349 at Nordstrom rack right now, Stuart Weitzman Sidemover Chelsea suede heeled booties, $565, a Sentaler Royal baby alpaca scarf, $320, and carried a limited edition Prada bag.
Want that look? This sweater from Loft has the same hand knit style and attention to detail like hers. $69.50. The leather jacket is a good deal-it turns into a vest. Want something a little more wallet friendly? Here’s a faux leather jacket from New York and Co., that’s on sale for $39.99 and a cute pair of Chelsea boots from Park Lane, $72, Asos.
