10 artists turn Dior bags into works of art that you wear.
If you thought the Jeff Koons X Louis Vuitton collab was the first artist and luxury handbag collab, you were wrong. It started with Dior. Okay, not by much, but last year they tapped 7 artists to re-create their Lady Dior bags into a work of art that could be worn. This year, they've expanded to 10 artists. Each artist re-imagines the classic bag, which was first in the spotlight in 1995, a year after it was created. Princess Diana fell in love with it, and carried it wherever she went.
Dior Lady Art #2, as the collection is called, has artists changing fabrications, colors, everything and anything except the basic silhouette.
They artists who were chosen are: Lee Boule (Korea), John Giorno (America), Hong Hao (China), Friedrich Kunat (America), Namsa Leuba (Sweden-Guinea), Betty Mariani (France), Jamilla Okubo (Kenya), Jack Pearson, Spencer Swinney and David Wiseman (all from America).
Bags range in price from $5700 to $9700, and will be available for sale in December.
